eye_ameКак-то я мало пишу совсем о своей богатой духовной жизни. Вот щас у меня есть пять минут, пока я не передумал; пишу.
- Смотрите, как переделали Love Never Dies. Чувствую, пора ехать опять.
- Отец Ивлина Во очень любил старшего Ивлинова брата, а Ивлина, ээ, не очень. Пришёл как-то чудо-ребёнок Ивлин к маме и говорит: "Мама, папа вот больше любит Алека, а ты -- меня?" Мама, понятно, отвечает: "Да ладно, сынок, брось, я вас одинаково люблю." "Значит, мне не хватает," -- сделал вывод наш герой.
- По ходу, я посмотрел 3 сезона "Доктора" и планирую продолжать.
Неспящая съела мне моск и довольна ;) Ну, я тоже рад и щаслив. - Ещё мы с Половником, естественно, видели "Кунг-фу панду" и обсмеялись до колик.
- Одна из неудобных побочек моей аццкой болезни в том, что у меня двоится в глазах.
Йоссариана отвезли на каталке в изолятор, где лежал солдат, у которого двоилось в глазах, а в палате объявили еще один карантин на две недели.
Это на самом деле я к тому, что мне лучше.
- У меня все в глазах двоится! - заорал, солдат, у которого все в глазах двоилось, когда вкатили Йоссариана.
- У меня все в глазах двоится! -- заорал изо всех сил Йоссариан, подмигивая солдату.
- Стены! Стены! - заорал солдат. - Отодвиньте стены!
- Стены! Стены! - заорал Йоссариан. - Отодвиньте стены!
Один из врачей сделал вид, будто отодвигает стены.
- Вот так достаточно?
Солдат, у которого двоилось в глазах, слабо кивнул головой и рухнул на подушки. Йоссариан тоже слабо кивнул головой, не сводя восхищенного взора с талантливого соседа. Солдат работал по классу мастеров. У такого таланта стоило поучиться - равняться на мастеров всегда, полезно. Однако ночью талантливый сосед скончался. Йоссариан понял, что, подражая ему, пожалуй, можно зайти слишком далеко.

Date: 2011-06-11 05:03 am (UTC)Heard a naughty audio recording of Love Never Dies Australia (think yesterdays performance), and have to say, I can tell why people are saying it is good. It is much much much better than the London version, that is for sure! (and I’m basing this on what I’ve heard of the audio of the Australian Show, rather than seen)
I’m a fan of Love Never Dies, but do agree that the book needs to be changed. Since it is a sequel to Phantom Of The Opera, it is vital.
However, the interesting thing is, is if you look at it as a completely different and standalone show, and that it has nothing to do with POTO, it is perfection. The reason for all the problems it has are the continuity problems which are very prominent
While there are very few changes in terms of the storyline, the other changes that have been made lyric-wise and musically are excellent.
Till I Hear You Sing Once More - Not changed completely, but all the rather awkward lyrics have been removed, and some very poetic lyrics added, which are sensual and beautiful, rather Sondheim-like. If only ALW had changed them before he released that lovely video with Ramin and Sierra … sigh… which is obviously outdated now
Dear Old Friend - Completely rewritten, about 95 percent of the song, except for a few lines that remain at the beginning. Some very intelligent rhyming too. No more irritating ‘dear old friend’ repetition, but there are variations to it like ‘poor old friend’, ‘grand old friend’ etc. A problem I had with the song when I first heard it was that the structure of their conversations was rather odd (example, Christine and Meg starting to sing after Madam Giry told Raoul that the Phantom is his new boss, I felt they missed out on an interesting dramatic/funny moment), but they’ve corrected it now.
Of all the changes, the changes to this song are my favourite.
Beauty Underneath - A few lyrics changes that are for the better, and it sounds less like a rock song, and more musical-theatre-ish
Look With Your Heart - More lyric changes in this one, nothing to write about though. Wouldn’t be long until someone like Beyonce does an r’n’b version of this (sampling Beautiful) or even Nicole Sherzinger
Beneath A Moonless Song - The last time they rewrote this song, I thought it sounded good, and now, with a few more changes in lyrics and tempo of the song, it sounds epic.
Devil Take The Hindmost is sort of slower (so that all the lyrics are heard) and more menacing now.

Date: 2011-06-11 05:03 am (UTC)Coney Island Waltz - Now it’s sung by Madam Giry, Fleck (and the other two freaks as well, as I heard two male voices on it) and the ensemble. Lyric wise, the only changes present in it are the changes that have been implemented on the show in London. Some very nice rhymes and lyrics here, again very Sondheim-esque. It would have been interesting if Lloyd Webber had gotten Sondheim to help with the lyrics. They’ve worked together for Cam Mack’s birthday before, so I doubt they are arch-enemies as people say.
Only for (You/Him/?????) - Is sort of similar to the new London version, but there are changes in it. The freaks start it, then Meg comes on and sings the ‘Welcome Each and Everyone’ at a slower tempo. It then goes onto Heaven By The Sea, and then back to Only For You …. it sounds like a proper ensemble number now. It ends with Meg singing a few more verses about singing for the Phantom, which are not in the London version, and then Madam Giry comes out, and they sing about Christine. This bit is similar to what it is London right now.
The Freaks Arrival - Now they sing to the Coney Island Waltz theme, which is the only thing I was not too happy about, because by that time, we had heard it several times. Hopefully he’ll change it to ‘Are you Ready To Begin’ again
Music-wise, the score is very strong. There are lot more POTO themes integrated into it now.
Phantom Of The Opera (the part before Wishing you Were Somehow Here Again) - When the Phantom is speaking to Christine at several points in the show, it sounds beautiful to hear it, and comes as a surprise.
Music Of The Night - Bits of it came through, again in Phantom and Christine scenes (like in the confrontation)

and I think I heard bits of Think Of Me here and there as well
The only problem I have with the show and the score is that it ends rather tediously. If it were me, I’d finish on a grand note, or something like in the original, with Meg coming back taking the Mask, which the Phantom has removed while he is embracing Gustave and lifting it up, echoing POTO.
On the whole, if I had to choose which production I’d want to see right now, I’d choose the Austrlian production. It sounds like a very rewarding experience and FYI, the audience in the recording went MAD with applause at certain points, Till I Hear You Sing, Love Never dies, Only For You, Dear Old Friends, Till I Hear You Sing Reprise in Before The Performance, at the second act entract and the most of all when the show finished, so any talk of audiences not liking the show is absolute rot, since the audience (on whatever night it was) went wild, on the recording.
== And to add, there is a moment in Dear Old Friend when Christine tells Meg that she is here to sing, The dancing girls hear her and start squealing, ‘Christine, it’s Christine’ rather like fans of performer, lol … it was quite funny

А вот Dear Old Frends мне и так как-то нравилась... Как и Devil Takes The Hindmost-- вообще, имхо, лучшее, что там есть -- и я вот как-то и так все слышала... обидно, если испоганили...
Но вообще да, начинает становиться интересно! Ты если в сети где этот шедевр нароешь, ты ссылкой поделись, ага? ;-)
